Is a Bond required for my booking?
This depends on the type of vehicle you’re hiring and the insurance package you select.
4 Seater Hatch, Sedan, 8 Seater Van - $200 Bond/Credit Card Hold
10 + 12 Seater Vans - $500 - $2000 Bond/Credit Card Hold
Please be aware, if there’s any damage to the vehicle during your rental period, or if we find damage during the check-in process, we will deduct the necessary excess payment from the pre-authorised bond amount. Other deductions include but are not limited to Tolls, fine transfer admin fee, fuel etc.. any questions please contact us!
What if I don’t have a credit card?
No problem, you can still hire and pay for your vehicle using your EFTPOS card or Cash. Please note that your chosen Card card must have the cardholders full name embossed on the front and the cardholder must be the main hirer.
You can also use someone else’s credit card to pay for your hire; they must be present with you at the time of the booking payment.
What if your bond does not cover the excess amount?
i.e. you rent a small vehicle with a $200 bond, and you did not pay for excess reduction.
The main hirer is liable to pay the entire excess amount and or the cost of repair, whichever is lesser.
Standard insurance excess is $2000
Reduced excess option is $500
We do not currently offer any $0 excess options.
Will I get my bond back once I return the vehicle?
Yes, you will receive your bond back after returning the car. However, if the vehicle incurs any damage during your rental period, or if we discover damage at the time of check-in, we will need to deduct the applicable excess payment from the credit card hold/bond.
If the vehicle is returned in the same condition as when it was rented out, the full bond amount will be released back to you. Typically, this process takes 10 business days to complete.
Rest assured, we make every effort to process these returns promptly and efficiently
Bonds paid in Cash or EFTPOS will be refunded into the nominated bank account which you will provide to us before your hire.
Cash bonds cannot be returned in cash; they are deposited and refunded through your nominated bank account.
Can I extend my hire?
Yes, absolutely – in most cases we can accommodate extensions
Do you offer long term hires?
YES! This is what got us into the rental car game all those years ago.
We specialize in long term hires for personal, company, working holiday, family visits.
Give our friendly team a call on 07 533 1463 or email us on [email protected]
More than happy to work out a rate that suits you needs!
Do you price match?
We keep our prices fair, so we don’t have to price match!
However, we are open to consideration.
Bring us a valid quote from another supplier and we will do our best.
The quote must be:
- Valid and obtained within the last 7 days
- For a vehicle like that on offer (i.e. we can supply a 2016 Nissan NV350, we won’t be price matching to a 2008 vehicle of the same model)
- Direct from the source, we can’t price match for third party websites or overseas quotes.
- In NZD, any quotes in other currencies cannot be matched.
- For the same duration, 1 day hire vs a daily rate for 1 month will be different.
What are your requirements for Main Hirers?
Main hirers must be aware they are responsible for the actions of anyone driving the vehicle! Including additional drivers added to the contract.
Main hirer does not have to hold a licence, but must present 1 form of Valid ID (passport, NZ18+ card) and a secondary form of confirmation (bank statement with your name on it, power bill, letter from NZ official offices, matching bank card with full name embossed)
Their ID must match the bank card used to pay for the booking.
Main hirer must be 21 or older on the date of the hire commencing.
What are your requirements for Drivers?
Anyone nominated to be a driver for the duration of the hire must be at least 21 years of age and hold a full, current, New Zealand Drivers Licence.
I hold an international License, what do I need to do?
If you licence is printed in English, no problem (Aussie, America etc… you’re all good to go!)
If your licence is printed in a language other than English, to meet NZ Transport’s law licence requirements, you’ll need to provide a copy of your original driver’s licence to the NZTA approved translation service to have it translated into English.
We advise this be done prior to your rental car booking to avoid unexpected delays.
I’ve just got my Full Licence, Class 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc… and have a paper licence?
All good! Just bring along another form of photo ID to confirm you are you!
Can I collect or drop off a vehicle outside business hours?
You sure can! Our depot is monitored 24/7 with number plate recognition and alerts us when vehicles have been picked up and returned.
Please speak to the team to discuss our afterhours process, parking, key drop boxes and vehicle security.
Can I leave my hire at the airport?
Well, you can – but a hefty relocation fee would be charged. (starting at $200.00 for Tauranga airport for example)
All vehicles are required to be returned to our depot located at 965 State Highway 2 RD6, Te Puke, 3186 – unless prearranged.
What level of insurance is included as standard when I rent a Ready Rentals car?
When you rent a car from us, you automatically receive our RR Basic Insurance Coverage.
This coverage is included in your rental price. It’s important to understand that this is our standard insurance option, which comes with the highest excess applicable for any insurance claims ($2000).
Optional extras, including windscreen cover and tyre/puncture cover can be optioned – ask our team for the list of extras as well as excess reduction.
I have my own insurance. Do I get a discount/can you remove the bond?
Great to hear! That means you’re well covered. What this usually means (although every policy is different) is that if there were to be an accident and we did have to charge you, you would be able to claim those costs back from your insurance.
As you would make a claim with them directly, we would still need to charge the Main Hirer and hold a bond.
What do I do if I have an accident?
First of all, we want to make sure that everyone’s okay. Vehicles can be replaced, people cannot
In the unfortunate event of an accident with your rental car, we will ask that you do not admit liability in any circumstance. If you are unsure, always obtain a police report that will help our insurance company to gauge who was at fault.
All accidents must be reported to a Ready Rentals representative the day it happens. You’ll also have to complete claims forms with a representative at our depot. Please call us at your soonest.
We can’t guarantee that we’d be able to replace the vehicle if you are liable for the accident.
Can I change my level of insurance after I have booked/on the day?
Yes! Please be in contact with our team anytime before your collection takes place.
To keep it fair, if you change your mind after you have collected the vehicle, we are unable to change your insurance options.
Can our vehicles be driven off road?
Short answer is no. But this is NZ, some of the best places we have to offer go a little way off the beaten path. If the road is named and, on a map, by all means take it.
Any unpaved road… i.e. gravel, dirt, sand, mountain tracks, take at your own risk. Any damage to the underbody of the vehicle is not covered by insurance. The Main Hirer is liable for all costs associated with the damage.
Are there any road that I cannot travel on in a Ready Rentals Vehicle?
There are a few roads that we won’t let our vehicles be driven on, these are: Ball Hutt Road (Mt Cook), Skippers Road (Queenstown), Ninety Mile Beach (Northland), Te Paki Stream Bed, the road to Macetown in the Queenstown Area, or any other unformed road or any track or thoroughfare including gravel roads that is not officially designated a road, including any beach.
GPS tracking is monitored for your safety and the safety of our vehicles.
Do you allow pets in your vehicles?
In the case of requiring your furry friend, we ask that they are secured in an appropriate travel cage. Any fur, feathers or fluff left behind will result in a $250.00 cleaning fee.
Can I smoke in the car?
For the comfort of all our customers, we have a zero smoking policy across all vehicles.
Minimum full valet fee of $300.00 applies.
Do I need to clean the vehicle before I return it?
There’s no need - we have expert cleaners on staff Ready to make your Rental good as new. We just ask that you remove all rubbish and personal belongings from the car at the time of drop-off.
If the car is excessively dirty (i.e. mud on body of the car), we ask that you rinse off excess dirt before you return the car.
Cleaning fees may apply in the extreme case, this will be documented, and you will be notified.
Will my rental be Automatic or Manual?
99.99% of our fleet is automatic! If for any reason you would prefer a manual van, let the team know and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
Can I change the vehicle I have booked after I’ve paid and received confirmation?
99% of the time we can absolutely accommodate requests… even if they’re last minute!
You’ll need to get in touch with us if you’d like to change the vehicle you’ve booked, as we’ll need to check availability and pricing on the requested vehicle you wish to change to.
What happens if I don’t return the vehicle full of fuel?
You will be charged $5.00 per litre of fuel required to top up your rental.
This is a flat rate regardless of the vehicles fuel type.
The extra cost covers the time it takes our team to get the vehicle refiled
I’m running late!!! I can’t return the car by the time stated on the contract?
Please call us if you are expecting to be later than the agreed time. In most cases we are flexible, but anything more than 3 hours after the expected return time will result in a full day charge.
We understand that the unexpected can happen. During peak season our vans can be booked back to back, we respect your time by having vehicle ready and ask that you respect ours too!
